UPU: Opening to wider postal stakeholders / who will benefit

The 27th UPU Congress decided to open the UPU to the wider stakeholders. An extraordinary #UPU #Congress dedicated to opening up will be held in 2023 and will take the decisions needed to effect this #change. The reform of the UPU Consultative Committee (CC) is scheduled for completion by mid-2022. Its current composition and role, of representing UPU member countries, designated operators as well as multi-national associations and organizations indirectly to the UPU, will be replaced by a representation #model which allows wider postal sector stakeholders to directly participate in and actively contribute to the work of the UPU.
This comes at a time in which the UPU is implementing its first data-driven strategy, making it the main forum, provider of affordable technical #solutions, and primary #knowledge center for the postal sector globally. Integrating wider #postal industry players is essential to attaining these strategic goals. Pairing mandated #products and #services compliant with Electronic Advanced Data with the reduction of greenhouse gases in the global postal sector can only be achieved by actively involving the wider postal sector stakeholders, aligning with the #marketplace, and meeting #customerexpectations.
Wider #postal stakeholders, UPU member countries, and designated postal operators will all benefit when the UPU is able to facilitate the sustained #development of efficient and accessible universal postal services and establish a truly inclusive universal postal network.
Work began immediately after Congress; expect further updates soon.
