27th UPU Congress: New Director General and Deputy Director General elected

𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐤𝐢, Japan, secured an impressive 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟔𝟓% of all votes of the UPU member countries at Congress in the first round of the elections. The new 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 is currently Chairman of the Postal Operations Council, as well as Senior Vice President (International Affairs), Japan Post. The nomination of Mr. Metoki demonstrates Japan’s strong commitment to the #goals and #aspirations of the UPU and its 192 member countries. With the support of Japan and the UPU community, as well as his professional background, experience and achievements, he is highly qualified to continue the UPU’s excellence and leadership in realizing the full potential of the postal network for customers and society.

The new 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 is an accomplished executive with twenty-four years of progressive responsibility in international postal #relations. He has wide practical experience in the work of the Post of Slovenia (Pošta Slovenije d.o.o. – Designated Postal Operator) where he is currently Senior Adviser to the Executive Management following a successful 12-year run as International Mail Director.
