European Commission has opened two public consultations
The European Commission has opened two public consultations that are relevant for #ecommerce and Ecommerce Europe: ADR and CPC. They will be open until 21 December 2022 and Ecommerce Europe will discuss with its members how to better contribute to these consultations (links below).
In short, the first one covers Alternative dispute resolution (ADR), whose aim is to ensure redress for consumers without them having to go to court. The Commission mentions that digital markets require fast and simple redress mechanisms and that ADR legislation must be updated to meet those requirements.
The second one covers Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC). The Commission mentions that digitalisation of consumer markets and new business models pose new challenges for enforcing EU consumer law. This initiative would make targeted changes to the CPC Regulation to address these issues.
