Amazon Not Close to Matching or Surpassing UPS/FedEx Capabilities: Comparing Apples to Oranges

Comparing Amazon to UPS/FedEx as a parcel carrier and suggesting they are surpassing UPS/FedEx is a flat-out distortion as Amazon and UPS/FedEx do not do the same thing.

Amazon-They source their delivery shipments from forward stocking fulfillment centers and for the most part, only provide last mile delivery services for their own retail customers and some of their marketplace customers that use Fulfillment by Amazon. They are only providing integrated carrier-like services to a tiny number 3rd party business shippers, with limited geographic area pick-up and delivery coverage.

UPS/FedEx-They are integrated carriers that serve all shippers, of any size and type, and pick-up/deliver to all US zip codes. To do this, they possess immense resources and transportation infrastructure to manage the first mile pick-up, middle mile line-haul/sortation process and last mile delivery.

Along with the USPS, Amazon Delivery Service Partners is one of the largest last-mile-only delivery companies in the country…they are not an integrated carrier. If you are confused, simply pick up the phone and try and get Amazon to pick up your package from your home or business, and deliver it to any US address.
