WT:ย The UPU has been working to bridge gaps and facilitate the seamless flow of Hashtag data along the entire postal channel Hashtag supplychain โ from Hashtag marketplace/online merchant to recipient. This is only possible through extensive Hashtag cooperation with, and Hashtag integration of, commercial Hashtag cargo and Hashtag transport Hashtag companies such as Hashtag airlines. Naturally, international organizations such as IATA and TIACA play a key role in this process.
Q: What is the status of this collaboration?
WT: The need to enhance Hashtag collaboration was made more urgent by reforms including the EUโs Hashtag ICS2. The UPU Global Postal Model (GPM) already incorporates the harmonized data necessary for crossing borders. The task now is to use this data in close cooperation with the cargo/freight industry.
And this is where the Hashtag UPU Consultative Committee comes into play. The CC was created as an Hashtag instrument for opening the UPU to precisely these wider postal sector Hashtag players. The UPU correctly recognized that the postal sector no longer consists of only the traditional, mostly state-affiliated Designated Postal Operators, but also of many other major players. Companies such as Hashtag MAERSK, the China Express Association and the Global Express Association are already UPU CC members, as is the World Free Zone Organization.
Q: How concrete is this cooperation in practice?
WT: Very concrete. The best example is the UPU CCโs Postal Prosperity Zone (Hashtag PPZ) initiative which was initiated by the UPU member states. Here, Morocco is taking the lead, and postal companies are collaborating in a Hashtag project environment with private players including leading Hashtag marketplaces, MAERSK and others. The WFZO is involved, and upgrades to the UPU Hashtag ITsystem will provide precisely the data needed by the cargo and Hashtag freightindustry both for its own purposes and to ensure Hashtag compliance with the Hashtag requirements of the Hashtag authorities.
The goal is clear โ an integrated postal sector in which Hashtag stakeholders can Hashtag exchange data on the basis of implemented Hashtag standards, and work together on the basis of clear rules. The UPU, in cooperation with organizations including the Hashtag WCO, Hashtag WTO, Hashtag ICAO, Hashtag IATA and Hashtag TIACA, is creating the framework to make this a reality. We have recently come a good deal closer to this goal.
