New UPU/CC member from Estonia: Stampsdaq
As of 1 July 2022, #postal stakeholders that are not #public postal #operators or #regulators can become #directmembers and participate actively in the work of the Universal Postal Union (#UPU), and cooperate with other UPU members within the UPU #framework through the Consultative Committee (CC). We will continuously report on new members in this series and comment accordingly.
Endorsed by the Republic of #Estonia, STAMPSDAQ, a dedicated postal NFT company, becomes the third Estonian member (Gold) of the UPU Consultative Committee. NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token, a #digital artifact that reflects real-world #assets such as #art, #music, and #stamps. It functions as a #unique digital identifier that cannot be copied, substituted, or subdivided, is recorded in a #blockchain, and is used to certify #authenticity and #ownership. The company operates the stampsdaq.com platform & #marketplace for the #trading (selling) and #buying of Ethereum-based blockchain NFT stamps issued by designated #postal #operators.
Stampsdaq provides “NFT Stamp Art from official #postal operators”. The #company was previously an Associate Member of the UPU’s Dot Post Group and the WADP (World Association for Development of Philately).
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗾 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁?
Stampsdaq´s #businessmodel is based on dedicated #partnerships with postal operators. Their #goal is to bring together all 192 UPU’s postal operators on a single #platform and to provide maximum #benefit to the global NFT #collector #community (including 60 million traditional philatelists).
There is already a #market and #demand for these new #technologies and NFT stamps. While there is a large market for stamps, #digitalization of stamps based on NFT/blockchain is not necessarily the core #technical #competence of postal operators.
Stampsdaq has understood that #membership of the UPU CC is currently the best way to #connect its #services to the postal world and contribute to #innovation in the postal sector. This once again demonstrates the #value of opening the UPU to wider #stakeholders – and the diversity of stakeholders that the organization can address.
