Subject: EU businesses’ competitiveness impacted by current cards payments landscape – a call for
urgent action

📢 Ecommerce Europe, together with EACT – European Association of Corporate Treasurers, EuroCommerce, and Independent Retail Europe, united in expressing their concerns about the lack of competition in the European Payments landscape to the European Commission

💳 Together, we point to the dominant size and practices of large international card schemes and wallet providers. These practices hurt the Hashtag#competitiveness of EU businesses, an impact that disproportionately affects smaller Hashtag#merchants at a time when all efforts should be focused on tackling the cost of living issue of consumers.

📢 Together, we call on the new Commission to treat this issue as a Hashtag#priority and take urgent action.
