The latest figures show that the #global #ecommerce markets continue to grow, with #digitalization increasingly shaping #B2C #delivery markets. In the meantime, a perfect storm is brewing, with fuel, food, and #financial #crises leaving #consumers with less disposable income.

The fight against #climatechange has become a #priority for the western world and is core to all #European #government agendas. Digitalization and the European #GreenDeal must be complementary and mutually supportive, giving rise to ecologically-sound #commerce.

The Director of Standardisation and Chairperson of #CEN/TC331, Mr Bruno Gadal, and the Sustainability Associate Director at #DPD Group and #Expert at CEN/TC331, Ms Caryn-Ann Allen, outlined how #businesses operating in an ecologically-#sustainable manner and using #renewableresources can enjoy a clear and measurable #competitiveadvantage. Following the new European Norm (EN) #Postal Services – Parcel #Delivery #EnvironmentalFootprint – Methodology for calculation and declaration of #GHGemissions and air #pollutants of parcel #logistics delivery, #CO2 and greenhouse gas (#GHG) emissions measured at #parcel item level and electronic freight #transport information available for any transport mode will serve to further enhance this #transparency.
