𝗢𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥: 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣𝗨’𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀

#OSCAR – the Online Solution for Carbon Analysis and Reporting – is the UPU’s sustainability tool. Launched seven years ago, OSCAR allows #postal operators to #measure and analyze the #carbonfootprint of their activities. 
The platform has been well received by national postal operators designated by their UPU member countries who use it to gain insight into the extent and sources of their #greenhousegasemissions, and to assess and report on their #sustainability efforts.

𝗢𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀

Now P2 -the Second Post GmbH & Co KG (P2), a private network of German postal operators and a member of the Universal Postal Union’s Consultative Committee (UPU CC) since August 2022, has become the first non-designated postal operator to take part in a pilot project giving wider postal sector players (#WPSP) the chance to test and subsequently adopt the UPU’s sustainability tool.

The following P2 shareholders have now successfully participated in the OSCAR pilot project:
·  Südwest-Mail Brief + Service GmbH, Ulm, Germany
·  BWPOST Böblingen GmbH, Böblingen, Germany
·  MEDIA Logistik GmbH, Dresden, Germany
·  Zustellgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein mbH, Rendsburg, Germany
In a next step, the #UPU team will draw up the project evaluations and reports and make them available to the respective participants.

OSCAR enables postal operators to fulfill their sustainability reporting obligations to public clients. Ultimately, it allows posts to plan and implement #emissionsreduction measures and track their progress over time. Making the tool available to the WPSP creates a uniform basis for #sustainabilityreportingacross the postal sector as a whole.

𝗣𝟮 – 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗺𝗯𝗛 & 𝗖𝗼 𝗞𝗚

P2 is a #network of private postal services operating throughout Germany. Founded in 2007, the P2 #network has been firmly established in the German market since 2008. P2 allows #national and #international #customers to send postbox-compatible items such as Dialogpost, #newspapers, and #magazines cost effectively. The P2 portfolio also includes commercial letter post items containing goods, as well as a variety of #digitalsolutions, such as the hybrid letter portal.

P2 is a GOLD member of the UPU CC and is actively participating in shaping the development of the UPU’s global postal network.
