However, todayโ€™s sophisticatedย #technologiesย can be used to bundle customer preferences, bypass dominant marketplaces, and connect customers directly toย #manufacturersย orย #brandsย โ€“ a much more cost-effectiveย #salesย model which can increase brand revenues by as much as 30%.

This permission-based ecommerce offers huge advantages for brands, with direct โ€“ although anonymized โ€“ contact with customers allowing them to secure a significantly higher share of theย #valuechain. This model depends on controllingย #customercommunication/advertising and complete (digital) management of the entireย #supplychainย โ€“ which todayโ€™s technology now makes possible.

In many markets, the designated postal operator (#DO) is the leadingย #deliveryย network provider, enjoying good relations with the government, and โ€“ crucially โ€“ able to identify recipients (nationalย #ID).

In practice,ย #DOsย have proven willing partners for PBD models as many are under increasing pressure fromย #marketplacesย andย #commercialย expressย #carriers: collaboration withย #internationalbrands, facilitated by technology partners such as Ship2MyD, can bring DO significant additionalย #revenuesย as well as greater deliveryย #volumes.

The considerable profits currently accrued by traditional intermediaries, such as marketplaces andย #retailstores, which typically commandย #profitmarginsย ranging from 15% to 40%, could be redistributed to benefit brands seeking higher profit margins and consumers enjoying furtherย #discounts. The future of commerce is poised to revolve around permission-driven, direct-to-consumerย #commerce.
